Ummu is a Legal Practitioner and a State Attorney who was admitted to the bar in the year 2007. She holds a BA/LLB/MPA Degree from the University of Ghana Legon, Accra. She later enrolled in the Ghana Law School to seek her Legal Profession in the year 2007 till present date. She is currently the Deputy Legal Secretary of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Ghana (FOMWAG).
